Cajun Fried Cabbage Soup

Cajun Fried Cabbage Soup

This soup was a hit! It’s low carb and packed with vegetables. You can use chicken or turkey instead of ham if that’s your preference. Definitely adding this to my go-to winter soup recipes!

1 Tablespoon Bacon Grease

1 large Onion; chopped

1 cup Carrot; sliced

4 cups Cabbage; shredded

1 cup Zucchini; chopped

1 cup Celery; chopped

3 cloves Garlic; minced

1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika

1 teaspoon Ancho Chile Powder

1 teaspoon Onion Powder

1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder

1 Tablespoon “Slap Ya Mama” seasoning

½ teaspoon Dill Weed

Salt and Pepper to taste

3 ½ cups Ham; cubed

3 quarts Chicken Broth

  1. Heat a large dutch oven over medium heat and add the bacon grease. Sauté the onions, cabbage, carrots and zucchini until tender.
  2. Season the vegetables with the salt, pepper, spices and dill. Add the ham and pour in the chicken broth. Taste and season accordingly.
  3. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  4. Enjoy!
